In conjunction with Juneteenth, in 1980 the NAACP established January 1st as Jubilee Day, an annual celebration of the Emancipation Proclamation to commemorate Black heritage and history. The USF Tampa Special Collections has some primary documents related to Jubilee Day in the Robert W. and Helen S. Saunders Papers. The collection features a selection of jubilee materials that include sheet music written for the celebration. To read more about this material, click here.
