What is NVivo?
NVivo is software that supports qualitative and mixed methods analysis of textual and audiovisual data source. With it, you can:
- Organize and code multiple data sources in one project file.
- Assign attributes to data and compare them.
- Adding interpretations and notes to your data and codes
- Query and search your data to aid in pattern and theme identification
- Visualize your data
Who can use NVivo?
NVivo is currently available to all active USF Faculty, Staff and Students by filling out the special request form on the USF IT Software Catalog page.
Why use NVivo?
NVivo can support your work across a variety of contexts, including academic research, literature reviews, public health research, policy analysis, and program evaluation. Some of the ways NVivo can help you organize and find insights in your data include:
- Providing a centralized place to store documents, transcripts, audio and video, webpages, and many other types of data
- Accommodating non-textual data files (e.g., images, video, etc.)
- Capturing data from webpages, blogs, and social media
- Built-in visualization tools allow for the exploration of the data and the relationships between concepts
- Reliability and member checking when teams are analyzing data
- Software versions for both PC and Mac versions are available
