If you are applying for promotion and/or tenure, you likely already know how much effort and data gathering is required. To assist with this process, the USF Libraries have a variety of online resources and expert services to help guide the way. Once you feel it’s time to begin your application, make sure to contact your librarian to provide advice on all the databases and impact measurement resources that are available. You may already know some of the main ones, like Web of Science and Scopus, but there are now new databases for gauging journal, as well as book and other sources, citations, and metrics.
Most of the resources the library has collected and curated for this task are available online via this guide:
Impact: Library Tools for Promotion and Tenure – https://guides.lib.usf.edu/promotiontenure
This page has links to a variety of information resources, in addition to contact information for the library and subject librarians. There is even a sample grid for creating a table of your publications, which is a great template for your data collection efforts and for helping your chair and your committee to recognize the impact of your publication efforts.
Your librarian can help you get Impact Factor and Citescore metrics for journals, as well as help find your total numbers of citations and author h-index.
