In February of 2019, the USF Libraries scaled back their support of Kanopy streaming video service due to insufficient funds. The service had been purchased through technology fees that had expired in 2019. The blog post about it is here. In a recent article for Film Quarterly May 3, 2019, one learns that other institutions in higher education (Stanford, for example) have also dropped their Kanopy subscriptions because of the high cost of licensing fee that seems to be unsustainable. The library still wishes to support purchase of licensed videos that are key resources to the curriculum, so contact your librarian if there are films you wish to request for purchase.
