Gadsden County, Quincy Florida, July 1965. People waiting outside registration offices to register to vote.

The Amistad Research Center from Tulane University includes a dozen or so digital projects that focus on America’s ethnic and racial history, the African diaspora, human relations and civil rights. The digital collection includes over 3,000 digital objects: photographs from 1887-1952 of the American Missionary Association illustrating the lives of Americans and various ethnic groups in urban and rural communities. Also included in the collection is the raw footage and streaming video of the hour-long documentary film Black Natchez, which captures volunteers’ attempts to register black voters in 1965. Another collection is the NOLA Hip hop and Bounce Archive, that includes photographic portraits and 60 video interviews with leading rappers, DJ producers, and record store owners starting from the late 1980’s. All materials are freely available via the Center’s website and are suitable for all audiences, including community researchers and K-12 educators.
