The USF Library Faculty Award Committee has chosen LeEtta Schmidt as the winner of the inaugural Outstanding Library Faculty Award. This award recognizes a library faculty member’s “superior achievement in their professional duties, their research and creative activity, and in their service to the university, profession, or community.”

LeEtta Schmidt, copyright librarian

In the words of the committee members:

“[O]n the demonstrated strength of her past year’s work as outlined in her nominating packet, we recommend LeEtta Schmidt as recipient of this year’s Outstanding Library Faculty Award.

LeEtta Schmidt’s application packet demonstrates an incredible depth and breadth of work. As a scholarly practitioner, LeEtta is notably well-rounded in her service to students, faculty, and staff from all areas of USF. During the year for which the award is given, LeEtta had an impressive scholarly publication output of two peer-reviewed articles, two non peer-reviewed articles, and three conference presentations; many of these were collaborative efforts with diverse stakeholders from across USF Libraries. Her impact goes far beyond her primary work in copyright, spreading across the USF Libraries mission. LeEtta’s work this year has also had a significant impact on the community outside of USF, in particular her work with the Piney Point and USF Preserve collection, COVID-19 Hub, and Digital Dialogs. Finally, LeEtta is noted as a diplomatic, professional leader within her service assignments both locally and nationally.”

LeEtta will be recognized for her achievement during a ceremony that will be held during the Spring 2022 semester when she will receive a plaque and a $1,000 award.

Please join us in congratulating LeEtta for this wonderful accomplishment!
