Please help us congratulate Audrey Powers on being awarded the distinction of Emeritus Associate Librarian at the University of South Florida. This recognition is in honor of Audrey’s service to the USF Libraries and to the librarian profession.

Audrey Powers, Emeritus Associate Librarian

Audrey has worked at USF since 2005, serving as liaison to the College of the Arts. It’s easy to become quickly impressed with Audrey’s service to Arts faculty and students, especially during the pandemic as she resolved several issues relating to dance, multimedia access, and other fine arts questions. It was readily evident that the faculty trusted her can-do attitude and service.

In her service to the profession, Audrey was a longstanding Conference Director for the Charleston Conference, a national gathering of publishing and librarian professionals. Under her tenure, the conference has grown in size and prestige and is now one of the leading professional conferences for librarianship in North America. She was also the editor for Against the Grain, a publication aiming at helping librarians stay informed on publishers, vendors, and subscriptions.

Most recently, Audrey’s research has focused on visual literacy in library instruction. Throughout her career, she has published numerous academic journal articles, conference proceedings, book chapters, reviews, as well as presented at the Charleston Conference and in other forums.

In sum, Audrey has much to be proud of from her career at USF Libraries, from her service to the profession to her research insights and productivity.

Congratulations on being awarded the title of Emeritus Associate Librarian, and to your many contributions! And congratulations, perhaps most importantly, on being awarded free parking at USF for the rest of her life!
