Ana Temkina
How has the Library contributed toward your academic goals?

My work in Special Collections allowed me to support myself during my studies, focus first and foremost on education, and even apply my anthropological and language knowledge while working on some of the projects.

How has working at the Library aided in your career goals?

Working in the Library has taught me important new skills, such as curating an archival collection and operating a new information managing app. Both required flexibility and critical thinking, two essential things I can apply to any job in the future.

What are the next steps in your career?

I am soon moving to Lexington, Kentucky, to pursue a PhD in Anthropology.

What advice would you give someone on a similar path as yours?

Don’t be afraid to ask for help and take chances. You can’t succeed if you don’t try.

What have you enjoyed most about working at the Library? What will you miss most?

Most of all I will miss the Special Collections team. Especially Tomaro Taylor, Amanda Boczar, and Sydney Jordan. They have made my time working at the Library amazing!

How has it been working and studying during the pandemic? How did you balance it all?

Studying and working remotely has definitely been a challenge. I found balance due to great management at the Special Collections, engaging projects, and communication with other team members. I never felt isolated; there was always support when I needed it.

What’s one skill or fact you learned about yourself over the past year of the pandemic?

People around you, your support network, is the most essential thing in life. If you have it — you can get through anything

What are you most excited to get back to?

I am excited about meeting new people, face-to-face!

Congratulations on graduating, Ana! And thank you for your many contributions to the Tampa Library. We’ll miss you! Good luck, and GO BULLS! 🤘
