We’ve Got A Book For That!

Of course we’ve got a book for that–we’re the USF libraries! But, did you know about everything else we offer in support of faculty and student success? Check out the below information on some of the programs, services, opportunities, and expertise your USF Libraries have on tap.

Workshop:

The USF Libraries’ workshops enhance research impact and productivity and support career readiness. Workshops are applicable across curriculums and are free to all USF students and faculty. Throughout the academic year, we offer more than 100 workshops in various focus areas ranging from developing research strategies, copyright, and data literacy to R Programming, Chat GPT & Generative AI in research, metadata, and much more.

Expert:

USF Libraries seek out team members with diverse expertise and experience to provide superior service to our USF communities. Our research-active faculty and library professionals contribute to research within a variety of fields including censorship, paleoclimate, heritage foodways, 3D digital preservation, women’s studies, copyright, and more. These subject matter librarians, collections curators, archivists, and creative professionals are available to help USF students and faculty dig into, develop, polish, and publicize their research.

Collection:

USF Libraries purchase and create distinctive research collections in support of USF’s 60+ research disciplinary areas. We do so through judicious use of financial resources as well as leveraging technology to digitally archive and build additional collections contexts. Our libraries provide access to over 2.6 million print and eBooks, 73,000 eJournal subscriptions, and 30.8 million digital images. We support cross-disciplinary research as the home of the USF Herbarium and Florida Environment & Natural History collection.

Resource:

From flexible study spaces to printing resources, USF Libraries ensure patrons have access to necessities for success. From checking out textbooks, calculators, and laptops, to 3D printing in St. Pete’s Student Technology Center or scheduling a tutoring session in the Tampa library’s Academic Success Center, the libraries provide support and resources to equip students and faculty on their academic journeys.

Service:

We offer a wide variety of services in support of both student and faculty success Patrons can take advantage of expanded resource access through our Interlibrary Loan and UBorrow programs, lessen the load of textbook costs by checking out free textbooks or course reserve materials, or get support through course & subject online guides. Faculty benefit from services ranging from GIS support to faculty impact and promotion, curriculum development, and tenure support.

Community:

Libraries bring people, disciplines, departments, and ideas together–community is at our core. Not only do USF Libraries provide faculty and student meeting spaces for group work (and play), we also host research and educational events–even gallery exhibits and public art performances. Our librarians are active in faculty learning communities and affiliated with academic schools and departments. By hosting and supporting high-impact practices, such as book clubs, undergraduate research, and other co-curricular and experiential learning, we activate student intellectual communities and instill a sense of student belonging and engagement. Whether you visit the library for a study group or to meet up with friends, you’ll find a community where you belong!

Internship:

Our libraries offer diverse internship opportunities in support of student success. Internships are posted each semester and can cover a wide variety of interests such as metadata, data analysis, digitization, archives, website development, collections analysis, Open Access journal publishing, and more.
