Construction on the entrance of the Tampa Library began in March and Phase One of the project is nearing completion. Phase One focuses on the building entrance and includes expanded egress, storm-proof doors and windows, and the installation of e-gates (similar to those in this image from the Tampa Airport). Entry through the e-gates will require a tap-enabled USF ID card.
The new entry will also feature a service desk to assist students or staff who have forgotten their USF ID cards, and to provide information and credentials to visiting scholars or community members.
Phase One of construction is expected to be complete by late September or early October. Once it is complete, Phase Two will immediately begin. This includes the construction of additional office space and a substation for the University Police.
We are excited to unveil these important upgrades to the building, which turns 50 this year!
Note: With active construction, visitors can expect temporary impacts, including dust, noise, walking obstructions, and reduced parking for cars, scooters, and bikes.
