Greetings! The USF Libraries are making several ebook platform updates this spring in response to publisher changes. These are the changes faculty should be aware of:

ProQuest Ebook Central Changes

ProQuest Ebook Central is ending its Demand Driven Acquisition (DDA) program, and as a result, many ebook titles will move from ProQuest Ebook Central to other platforms by May 31.  Perpetually owned titles and subscribed content will remain available on the existing EBook Central platform.  To support continuity for teaching and research, heavily used titles will be purchased to ensure ongoing access.

New Ebook Access via EBSCOhost and JSTOR

New demand-driven ebook programs will launch this spring on EBSCOhost and JSTOR. Many titles previously available through Ebook Central will continue to be discoverable in the USF Libraries catalog through these new interfaces.

Most ebooks you have previously assigned or used should remain available, though you and your students may notice changes to the platform interface.

University Press Updates

  • Oxford UPSO Partner Press access ends May 31; the library will retain perpetual access to all purchased titles.
  • Access to university press frontlist content will continue through:
    • JSTOR DDA
    • Cambridge Core Ebook Acquisition (EBA)
    • De Gruyter/Paradigm EBA (with a three-year frontlist embargo)

What Faculty Can Do

Please review course links and reading lists later this spring to confirm ebook access. If a needed title is unavailable, the library can purchase, migrate, or recommend alternative access. Please contact Carol Ann Borchert, borchert@usf.edu, for more information.
