USF St. Pete’s Nelson Poynter Memorial Library has gone down the rabbit hole with a lively Alice in Wonderland collaborative exhibit that is now on view. The exhibit features everything “Alice” from USF Libraries’ Special Collections complemented by Salvador Dali’s enchanting Alice Suite, courtesy of the Dali Museum.

Dali’s Alice Suite, featured in NPML’s lobby gallery, is a rare set of heliogravure prints that the artist created to accompany each chapter of Lewis Carroll’s classic book. These enchanting portrayals of characters like the White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, and the Queen of Hearts have made these some of his most popular and well-known book illustrations.

Throughout the first floor of the library, there are a number of display cases with historic and modern editions of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, along with ephemera dating from the original publication, including a letter from Charles Dodgson (more famously known by his pen name, Lewis Carroll).

In collaboration with the exhibition, USF faculty member, Lindsay Persohn will be giving a talk Wednesday, September 13 at 6:00pm entitled Alice in Retrospect, How Stories Shape our Lives, on the ways this classic has become an integral part of the cultural lexicon.

Stop by USF St. Pete’s Nelson Pointer Memorial Library to check everything out before the exhibition closes on October 6. Don’t be late!
