Are final exams stressing you? Take a Bark Break with Echo the therapy dog.

The Library is bringing in a certified therapy dog to offer a much needed stress break. Echo loves to be pet, can perform tricks and help you take your mind off your studies, if only for a little while.

Echo will welcome visitors May 2, 3 and 4, 2011, from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm, in the Library Group Study area.

Counselors from the USFP Counseling Center will be available for informal chats and advice about end-of-semester stress. For more information about the Counseling Center, contact the center at (863) 667-7701 or visit them in LMC 8027.

Refreshments will be provided by SGA, thank you!

Come over to the USFP Library and take a break from the books and spend time with a dog or just chill out and relax!

Poly students help certify (library) canine

Poly Business Librarian Lisa Zilinski is the proud owner of Echo, a recently certified therapy dog. Lisa worked with the Psychology Club to help certify Echo. The German-Australian shepherd mix visited some cognitive science classes as well to help students discuss the benefits of animal-assisted therapy, as well as cognition and learning in dogs.

It was a great opportunity for the students to get a great hands-on, applied learning opportunity, which is integral part of a polytechnic education.

P.S. you can read The Ledger’s story here.
