New display on National Teacher Day

Pic-04162013-003May 7th is the National Teacher Day so the Library thought of honoring our teachers, our student teachers and all their colleagues in this new display.

Don’t forget to give a teacher some love on May 7th. The National Education Association suggests to update your social media to thank a teacher, for example, by changing your Facebook status to thank a teacher who made a difference in your life. Or, by sending appreciation messages on Twitter and using the #thankateacher hashtag.

The majority of the books on display can be checked out.

Pic-03012013-003For the 77th consecutive season, the Detroit Tigers are in Lakeland for major league baseball’s spring training in the Grapefruit League. Come see what we have in our collections, on spring training and the mighty Tigers.

Have a blind date at the Library

Feeling a bit lonely? Or liking surprises? You can have a blind date with a book at the USF in Lakeland Library, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

blinddate1Until Saturday, you can pick up any of the wrapped books in our display. Check it out and unwrap it at the Front Desk for a surprise! To note, all the books are related to Black History Month which makes it even better!

Our new display is on science education. We have scientific titles from our Children’s Books collection, for all age levels, as well as titles on how to teach science to children.

Subject Guides are a very useful tool to identify resources for specific subjects or topics, like Business, Information Technology or Education. You will find guides that are Lakeland-specific as well as guides that are prepared by Tampa librarians. You can also access them with a direct link under “Research Help” on the home page.

We welcome suggestions for new resources or new guides, please let us know!

Faculty Research Review published

The first issue of Volume 2 of the USF in Lakeland Faculty Research Review has been published.

See the list of books, journal articles and conference proceedings published by our faculty between January and June 2012.

Some notes on how publications were selected:

  • the books are authored, co-authored, edited or co-edited by a USF in Lakeland faculty member
  • the selected articles are from peer-reviewed journals
  • the selected proceedings are from peer-reviewed and published conference proceedings

Textbook Buy Back

The Tampa Bookstore will be on campus December 5th through December 8 for the textbook buy back.

The buy back will take place in LTB 1122, from 2PM to 6PM each day.


Extended hours during Finals

The Library and Open Use Lab will have extended hours during Finals. LTB 1115 will be open two extra hours in the evening, Monday through Thursday, during the last two weeks of the semester.

Here is the schedule during the weeks of November 28th and December 5th

Monday-Thursday – 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM
Friday – 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Saturday – 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Sunday – closed

Thank you to the Student Senate and Student Government who funded those extra hours!
